Has he wanted to for a long time to become an actor?
"I never had such notions especially the terrible idea to run around trees and sing duets. I have many ideas for new efforts. To say there's a shortage of stories for films is like closing your eyes and saying there's no sun. There are so many stories waiting to be told.
One such story is 'Kannabiran' but that needs some gestation period. When people asked me why I was getting into an acting role, I asked myself, why should I not act?
The situation in cinema is like having butter in hand but running around for ghee. Having a good story on hand, why wait for another hero? So, I got into the acting field."
What story does 'Yogi' say?
"I'm not telling anything new. It's a story that everyone's familiar with. I'm just telling it from another view point. The story is about slum dwellers. As far as film people are concerned, it's fashionable to show slum dwellers as rowdies. They conveniently overlook the depth, affection and relationships of these people. I am attempting to reveal those facets."
